Art and Design critical studies
Drawing on the Museum’s unique
cross-cultural collection, these half-day sessions aim to introduce
students on AS/A2 Art & Design courses to the concepts and
skills necessary for the critical study of objects. All sessions
will include contributions from Museum specialists and time for
students to develop personal investigations in the galleries.

Mycenaean Greece

This study day will cover several
aspects of the archaeology of the Mycenaean world and will also be
of interest to students reading Homer. Talks by leading experts
will focus on tombs, buildings, crafts and the economy. Students
also have the chance to visit relevant galleries.
Rome and Roman Britain

This study day will consist of two
lectures by leading speakers plus gallery talks and handling
sessions with curators. Students will also have the opportunity to
visit the galleries for independent study. The topics covered will
be relevant to AS and A2 syllabuses in Classical Civilisation,
Ancient History and Latin.
Medieval history
Monday 30 March 2009,

A collaboration between the British
Museum and the V&A Museum, this study day will cover a variety
of topics related to the medieval world through a range of short
lectures, gallery talks and workshops led by curators and museum
educators. This year this event will be held at the British Museum
and students will have the chance to visit the newly opened
Medieval gallery.
London Anthropology Day
Thursday 9 July 2009, 09.30–16.00
Anthropology is the study of what it
means to be human across different societies, cultures and
histories. The London Anthropology Day is a free university taster
day for Year 12/13 and FE Students, careers advisers and teachers,
covering both biological and social anthropology. Take part in
interactive workshops, explore the anthropology galleries, find out
what it’s like to study Anthropology at university and meet
lecturers from Anthropology departments all over the UK.
