In this gallery-based session, students take on roles as Greek
envoys, visit the court of the Persian king and meet King Darius
himself. They compare the values of Greece and Persia and
experience first hand how there are different points of view about
historical events.

Students use a range of resources to find out
what it meant to be an Athenian citizen in the 5th century BC. Then
they gather as the Athenian Assembly and have to put their values
into practice using role play and decision-making. This workshop is
especially suited to students in Y5/6, but we can adapt it for
Y3/4.

Students study the paintings on pots and learn how to use them
to find out about different aspects of life in ancient Greece
including athletics, dress and Greek parties.

This session is based in the Parthenon Gallery
and explores how the temple’s sculpture and architecture celebrated
the greatness of Athens and created a sense of identity among her
citizens. It links directly to the QCA scheme of work for Art &
Design: Can buildings speak?

interactive website to design and build their own Greek temple,
then continue their investigations in the Parthenon Gallery. This
session takes place in the Samsung Digital
Discovery Centre.
