Students learn about archaeology and then work as archaeologists themselves as they investigate a range of objects that might be found in an ancient Egyptian tomb.

Using slides, video and lots of questions, one of our team will introduce students to some of the mummies in the Museum’s collection. Find out what is and what isn’t a mummy, how mummies were made, and how X-rays, dentists and microscopes tell us about life in ancient Egypt.

Join one of our Museum teachers for a slideshow exploring the famous tomb painting of Nebamun hunting in the marshes. Discover what life was like for Nebamun, his wife Hatshepsut, and their daughter, and find out how we can use one painting to start off enquiries into many aspects of ancient Egypt.

Decorating Nebamun’s tomb

To celebrate the opening of the new gallery of paintings from the tomb of Nebamun, this session shows students how Egyptian artists designed their paintings and provides a great instant display for your classroom.
