Join a British Museum expedition to Egypt! Students find out how archaeologists work and then work as archaeologists themselves as they investigate a range of objects that might be found in an ancient Egyptian tomb.

Using slides, video and lots of questions, one of our team will introduce students to some of the mummies in the Museum’s collection. What is and what isn’t a mummy? How were mummies made? How do X-rays, dentists and microscopes tell us about life in ancient Egypt?

Join one of our museum teachers for a slideshow exploring the famous tomb painting of Nebamun hunting in the marshes. What was life like for Nebamun, his wife, Hatshepsut, and their daughter? How can we use one painting to start off enquiries into many aspects of ancient Egypt?

After a visit to see the paintings from the tomb of the Egyptian official Nebamun, students go to the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre, where they use comic-book software to show how to understand what the paintings are saying. Finished work can be sent or taken back to school. This session takes place in the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre.
