Families and children

Activities for families at the British Museum

At the British Museum we aim to help children and their grown-ups enjoy and appreciate our collection, both inside the Museum and on the website.

You can:

  • Follow trails around the Museum collection
  • Pick up backpacks full of activities to do in the galleries
  • Borrow crayons, coloured pencils and pads to create your own pictures as you visit
  • Find a wide range of books for all ages in the Hamlyn children's library
  • Handle objects from the Museum collection
  • Listen to the family audio tour to join Vid the alien for a Martian's view of the British Museum.

There is a full programme of regular and special events for families and children.
