Facilities for visually impaired visitors
Inclusive design for temporary exhibitions
All our temporary exhibitions have large print
information and, where possible, tactile images and Braille books.
Please ask the Information Desk or the Access Manager for further
information.
For paying exhibitions, concessions are available for disabled
visitors. A companion ticket is also provided free of charge.
Please contact the Information Desk.
Accompanied visit
A volunteer can be requested to accompany visitors around the
Museum. For this service please contact the Access Manager at least
two weeks in advance of your visit.
Magnifying glasses
You can borrow a magnifying glass from the Information Desk; a
£5 deposit will be required.
Guide dogs
Guide dogs are welcome. Dog bowls are available from the
Information Desk.
Handling sessions
We provide handling events for blind and visually impaired
visitors throughout the year. We can also arrange additional
handling sessions, involving original objects and replicas. Please
contact the Access Manager for further information.
Online audio description tour
This tour has been specially written for blind or visually
impaired visitors. It features a selection of twenty objects
displayed in five of the Museum's galleries. Audio recordings (in
mp3 format) can be downloaded from each page of the tour.
