Current opportunities for volunteers

We receive many thousands of enquiries each year from people around the world of all ages who are interested in volunteering, internships, work placements and work experience.

The Museum recruits people who are willing to support the work of the Museum and we actively encourage people from the local community to come and volunteer with us.

We are currently looking for volunteers to work on the:

• Hands On desks
• Events programme
• Gallery talk facilitators

If you are interested in volunteering for any of these roles, please complete the volunteer enquiry form and return it to us.

For internships, work placements or work experience at the British Museum, please complete the relevant sections of the volunteer enquiry form and return it to us.

We look at every application sent to us but due to the large number of applications we receive we are unable to acknowledge each individual application.

We will contact those of you to whom we feel we can offer a suitable volunteer position, internship or work placement.

Due to the number of applications we receive we are unable to keep your application on file for more than two months.
