Roman Britain
The Romans introduced towns with fine market-places, town-halls, public baths, theatres and stadiums to Britain. Richer people owned houses in towns and villas in the countryside but most people contuined to live in the countryside farming the land.
Only children from wealthy familes went to school where they learnt to read and write Latin.
