The Order of the Garter is the highest award someone can get from the King or Queen of England.

In 1763, Adolphus Frederick, a Duke from a part of Europe that is now in Germany, was awarded the Order of the Garter by King George III. In return he gave this sword to King George, to show that in times of war he would fight with the English. The sword was a gift to show his loyalty, so it is for decoration only and could not be used in battle. It has a gold hilt, a blued steel blade and a kid leather scabbard to keep it in.
