Clay jar
From: Ban Chiang, north-eastern Thailand
Date: about 1000 BC
This jar is an amazing 3,000 years old. It comes from a place where archaeologists found lots of pottery with patterns on. The people who made the pottery also made tools out of bronze.
The spiral patterns on the vase are very similar to those on pottery from the same time found in south China. So this vase shows that the people who lived in Thailand around 1000 BC were probably in contact with people in southern China, a few hundred miles away.
