Daily life in
ancient Greece

What we know about daily life in ancient Greece often comes from paintings on pottery used for household tasks.

Women were expected to work at home, but in poorer families most work was probably shared. Spartan women had to keep fit in order to have healthy children. Men had to practise for war either as soldiers or as sailors. Athenian men also took part in the political life of the city. In their spare time, people attended religious festivals, played games and relaxed with friends.
