Democracies are countries where leaders are voted into power by the people. Sometimes leaders do not take much notice of the beliefs of people who did not vote for them. The USA is a democracy where if people think that their leaders are not taking much notice of their beliefs, they can protest in public to try and change their leaders' ideas.

These badges were designed by a famous cartoonist called Jules Feiffer for people to wear when protesting against the use of nuclear power and the Vietnam War.
