Water pot

From: Tunis, Tunisia
Date: early 20th century AD

The people in the north and east of Africa are mostly Muslims, following the religion of Islam. This pot is decorated with patterns, as well as beautiful Arabic writing from the Muslim holy book, the Qur'an. It says:

'You who come to drink some pure, cold water, drink for good health and well-being and be happy, master, enjoy your drink and be blissful with a gulp that puts away all ills.'

It can be very hot in Tunisia, so you would be pleased to have a drink from such a welcoming pot.
