Armlets

From: Kenya
Date: 20th century AD

The Maasai people of East Africa are cattle herders. They have to travel around to find enough grazing for their animals. The young unmarried men do a lot of the herding work, and they are also the warriors who protect their community. They wear big armlets like these on their upper arms. The left one is made of wood and the other is of elephant ivory.
