Puppet of a stork
Turkish shadow puppet theatre began over 400 years ago. This stork is made of camel skin which is translucent, so the colours shine through brightly when it is held up to a light. It is moved by a rod fixed to the back.
Turkish plays are called 'Keragoz' after their main character. He is a rough man a bit like Punch who tells lots of rude jokes and behaves badly.
What kind of puppet? The stork is a shadow puppet, moved by rods.
