The rolling ball clock was invented by a man called Sir William Congreve who was also interested in making rockets.
This one was made in about 1810. It gains its power from a spring coiled up inside a brass drum. In this case the table with its rolling ball is the controller of the escapement, allowing the power to 'escape' once every thirty seconds when the ball comes to the end of the table. Over the period of a year this ball will travel approximately 2500 miles.
