Sudan: ancient treasures

Arrival of Christianity

'This object is called a chalice and it is made out of clay. It is decorated with flowers surrounded by diamond shapes. It is really pretty and artistic and must have taken some time to do. The colours look very nice and there are a lot of earthy colours such as orange and brown. It was used to drink holy water. It is early Christian although it may have been buried with a pagan.'
