Gold body-chain from the Hoxne hoard

This beautiful body-chain was buried by someone to keep it safe, along with other jewellery and gold, but the person who hid it never came back for it - we don't know why. The chain is very small, so was probably worn by a girl or slender woman. Whoever she was, she must have been rich - it is made of solid gold and gemstones.

A few final facts...
The body chain as an ornament has a long history. Images of it can be seen in both Hellenistic and Roman art, but actual examples like this one are extremely rare.
