Glass gaming counters

The Museum has thousands of pieces like these from around the world, used for playing games. Often people had their own gaming pieces specially made for them and sometimes these were buried in their graves with them when they died.

These glass counters were made to play a game like Ludo or draughts and were found in the grave of an Iron Age ruler. They were placed there so that the king or queen's spirit could play the game after they were dead.
