Tibetan Buddhist badge

Some people wear badges to show their religion. This badge shows that the wearer is a Tibetan Buddhist. Tibet is a high, mountainous land to the north of India, which developed its own type of Buddhism many hundreds of years ago.

Buddhists do not believe in gods, but in using meditation and other practices to achieve a perfect state of being. The Chinese writing across the top of the badge says Om Mani Padme Hum, which is a Buddhist chant.
