Chinese horse

It was probably in China that people first started riding horses, around 6000 years ago. Horses were so much faster than walking, riding them completely changed people's lives. They could now visit far away places that they had never seen before.

To start with people rode bareback, but after a while started using saddles to sit on. Can you see the saddle-blanket and saddle on this horse?

The little green horse on the left was made in ancient Greece to leave as a present to the gods. Horses were important then too.
