    From Japan
    Tempō era (AD 1830-44)

    Fox Spirit Magic

This lucky amulet is made in the shape of a 100 mon coin of Japan. The inscription on the front is the same as on the original coin, and reads 'Tem po tsu ho'. 'Tempo' refers to the Tempō era in Japan, and 'tsūho' means 'circulating treasure' or 'coin'.

Pictured on the back of this amulet is a fox, an animal regarded as having special powers in Japan. The letters F S M stand for Fox Spirit Magic.
