Soldiers talking to a group of artists and writers
This drawing shows soldiers in an engineering unit in the forest at Con Co. They are being sketched as they talk to artists and writers about bomb disposal. The Vietnamese caption explains 'The engineer unit are telling a story about how to dismantle and destroy a retard bomb to a group of artists and writers. Con Co.'
Con Co is an off-shore island covered with vegetation and edged by rocky beaches. It is near the former Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which divided Vietnam and was an important supply depot for the army during the American-Vietnam War (1965-75).
