Wooden puppets

These beautiful puppet figures are the same sort that are used in the Indonesian puppet theatre called the 'Wayang Golek'. Performances last all night, and children are sometimes brought along as a treat by their parents. Stalls selling food are set up and the audience eats, drinks, talks and even falls asleep during the show!

What kind of puppets? These are rod puppets worked from below. These ones were probably not for actual use, as they stand on a base.
