The Trojan War
The spirit of Achilles takes its revenge
Just before the Greeks left Troy to go back home, the spirit of
Achilles appeared to them and demanded payment for all the fighting
he had done. He wanted the blood of Polyxena, the daughter of the
king of Troy.
The picture shows the son of Achilles (a little to the left of
centre) cutting the throat of Polyxena. Three Greek soldiers hold
her log-like body, as the blood from Polyxena's throat runs down
onto the tomb of Achilles.
And so the war ended.
