Badges
Queen Victoria's jubilee
This badge was made for Queen
Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, celebrating sixty years on the
throne. It shows the Queen at her coronation in 1837, then again in
1897, the Diamond Jubilee
year.
It is one of the very
first 'button' badges ever worn in the UK - the
ones we all wear today. Button badges are made of a paper circle
with the design on it, covered with a thin layer of plastic, with a
stick pin behind. They were invented in the USA in
1896.
