This helmet is inscribed just above the rim, H.I.A.R.O.N. That’s the Greek word for sacred, indicating that this object was a votive offering in a sanctuary. To the left and below the helmet there is a pair of greaves. These served to cover the knees and shins. They could be pulled open and clipped around the lower leg.
