Figure of Athena and Poseidon

Little remains of the once colossal figures of Poseidon, shown here on the right, and Athena on the left. The missing part of Poseidon’s torso, showing his muscular chest, was found in Athens during excavations after Lord Elgin’s time and joins with the fragment shown here. The head of Athena has also been located in Athens and this too can be shown to join the torso.
