The Imaginary Museum: from André Malraux to Grayson Perry
In 1947, French art theorist André Malraux wrote that the act of placing any work of art within a museum alters its meaning. Lisa Jardine discusses how Malraux’s theory applies to Grayson’s work in The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman, and how an object’s significance can change depending on its context.
This event took place on 11 November 2011.
