Filming at the Museum
The Museum strives to be a film-friendly environment; whether it is for press or commercial purposes we try to accommodate all reasonable filming requests.
Filming
Press filming
No-fee filming only applies to coverage of the Museum and/or the collection, including temporary exhibitions and displays or filming that relates to a topical news item.
To arrange no-fee filming for press
Please email communications@britishmuseum.org
In your email please include:
- Details of your programme and your contact details
- Several potential dates and times for filming (as arrangements will be dependent on availability of Museum staff)
Commercial filming in the Museum
Filming inside the Museum building requires a greater level of organisation and will therefore incur a charge. Please contact the Broadcast Unit directly for our rates card.
All requests will be handled by the Broadcast Unit, filming@britishmuseum.org
Please be advised that no filming may take place in the Museum at weekends.
All film crews will be required to have public liability insurance when filming on site.
Terms and conditions
Please note that all requests must comply with the terms and conditions for filming at the British Museum
Please also check the main provisions for filming, these are in addition to the terms and conditions
