Mrs Penny Hughes CBE

Penny Hughes was appointed to the British Museum board in July 2007 and reappointed for a second four year term in July 2011.

Penny Hughes has more than 15 years commercial experience including 10 years at Coca-Cola. At the age of 33 she became President of Coca-Cola UK and Ireland. 

Penny was President of the Advertising Association from May 2005 to June 2011. She currently serves on the Boards of Reuters, the GAP, Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken and on the Advisory Board of Bridgepoint Capital. Penny was appointed as a non-executive director of RBS in January 2010.

Past positions have included non-executive director roles at: Vodafone plc (1998–2006), Bodyshop International plc (1995 for seven years), Trinity Mirror plc (1997–2005) and Web-angel (2000–2003). 

Penny was awarded a CBE in June 2011.
