What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

For an excellent introduction to runes, we recommend Martin Findell’s book published by British Museum Press.

Museum Pathways

Programme supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.

The National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund

Museum Pathways is an 18-month, paid training programme working in museums across London. Trainees work in a London museum and the British Museum. In this time they work towards gaining a vocational qualification in Cultural Heritage.

The programme is looking for people who have little or no experience of working in a museum or archive. The aim is to give people the skills to start a heritage career and make an informed decision about their career direction. On completion of the programme the trainees gain real experiences to refer to in future job applications.

This programme is at entry level and is geared towards those who have not completed an undergraduate degree.

Please note that applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

Please note: the deadline for applications has now passed.
