What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

For an excellent introduction to runes, we recommend Martin Findell’s book published by British Museum Press.

Ben is responsible for the Citi Money Gallery in Room 68. He is responsible for the updating of gallery content both in the gallery and on the Museum website.

He is involved in the development of a new education programme, in conjunction with the Learning, Volunteers and Audience department, focusing on financial literacy.

He is also responsible for answering public image and photographic enquiries.
