We want to improve the British Museum website. Please help us by giving your feedback through our survey. You can complete the survey once you have finished using the website. It will take a couple of minutes and all responses are anonymous.

Facilities and services

The Department of Greece and Rome offers a range of services to the academic community and to the wider public.

It is located on the upper floor next to Room 69, Greek and Roman life.

You can contact the department by telephone, weekdays 10.00-17.00. Please note you may only make enquiries in person 14.00-16.00.


Photographic services

High resolution digital images of the majority of the objects in the collection are available for purchase via http://www.bmimages.com/.

Alternatively please place orders for bespoke images with the departmental photographer at greekandroman@britishmuseum.org

Please allow at least 28 days for the order to arrive, from the date of receipt of payment.

Object identification

Staff are available to assist with the identification of objects relating to the department's collections.

We do not make a charge for this service, however donations are always welcome. You can bring in objects for identification weekdays 14.00-16.30.

Study room

The Study Room is open weekdays 10.00-13.00 and 14.15-16.00 for the study of objects and other material in the department's collection.

Library

The department houses a library of books relating to the collection and associated cultures.

The library can be used by visitors to the Study room and by appointment only. You may only make an appointment to use the library if the resources needed are not available anywhere else.
