The collections of the Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas are stored at a number of different locations across London including Bloomsbury (Museum), Franks House (Orsman Rd) and Blythe House (Blythe Rd).
Visits can be arranged by appointment taking into account the location of the requested objects and nature of research.
The Anthropology Library and Research Centre (ALRC) at Bloomsbury is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10.00-17.00 and Thursdays from 12.00-17.00. The ALRC Bloomsbury Study Room is available by appointment during these times.
The Franks House Study Room at Orsman Road, Hackney is open 10.30-13.00 and 14.00–16.00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and is available by appointment.
The Blythe House Textile Centre and Study Room at Blythe Rd, Hammersmith is open 10.30-13.00 and 14.00-16.00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and is available by appointment.
The study rooms are closed during November to allow for essential maintenance and care of the collections.
Please note, that during the move of collections into the World Conservation and Exhibitions Centre, visits or loan requests may not be possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
