People and PlaceExploring local and
global histories
Funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Education, for better engagement with young people in museums.
People and Place is a partnership programme with six museums – Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Newark and Sherwood Museum Service, The Royal Pavilion and Museum Brighton and Hove, Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service, and Bristol’s Museums, Galleries and Archives.
Managed by the British Museum, the partnership is working to create opportunities for long-term engagement with young people, embed organisational change in working with young people, and to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
As much as possible the young people have been involved in the development of each programme and decided what outputs they would like to create. This has resulted in a variety of different outcomes across the partnership, including exhibitions and events.
