Terms and conditions

  • Eligible participants will be required to provide their full name and valid email address and to send their entry by Friday 19 October 2012. Late, incomplete, corrupted or incomprehensible entries will be ineligible.
  • Employees of the British Museum and its affiliates, Penguin Books and all subsidiary companies, prize promoters, their immediate families, their agencies and companies associated with the promotion are ineligible to enter.
  • One entry per person.
  • The prizes are as stated in the prize draw description and are non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative will be offered.
  • The British Museum nonetheless reserves the right to substitute the prizes (or any part of them) for a prize of equivalent or greater monetary value if this is necessary for reasons beyond its control.
  • The draw for the winner will be administered by the British Museum and a winner will be selected at random. The Museum’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The British Museum reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity and proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the promoter.
  • The winner will be notified by email. If the winner does not claim the prizes within two weeks of the notification email being sent, or if the prizes are unable to be delivered following the reasonable efforts of the British Museum, they will forfeit the prizes and a new winner will be drawn.
  • The Prize Tickets are fast-track tickets and no booking is required.
  • The Prize Tickets are subject to the British Museum’s standard terms and conditions for tickets,:
  1. Your ticket(s) is/are valid only for the number of person(s), the date and the entry time slot stated on its/their face(s).
  2. During your visit you must retain your ticket(s) safely for production on demand by our representative(s).
  3. Your ticket(s) cannot be refunded or exchanged.
  4. Your visit to the exhibition and the British Museum is at all times subject to any notice to visitors we post on our premises; the direction, supervision and guidance of our staff; and our Visitor Regulations a copy of which may be inspected on notices on the perimeter of the premises or on our website at: http://www.britishmuseum.org/pdf/Visitor_Regulations_Mar03.pdf
  5. We reserve the right at our discretion to alter our advertised arrangements for the exhibition, cancel any exhibition time slot and/or close the exhibition without notice; AND in any such event (a) we shall not be liable to you for any loss of business, revenue, profits, anticipated savings or goodwill (whether direct or indirect) or for any indirect, special or consequential loss of any kind and in each case howsoever arising, even if you have advised us of the possibility of same; and (b) our maximum liability to you shall not exceed the total amount you paid for your ticket(s).
  6. If your ticket(s) is/are re-sold or transferred for profit or commercial gain by anyone other us or one of our authorised sub-agents, your ticket(s) will be void.
  7. We have the right, without liability to you, to refuse to allow you to enter the exhibition and/or escort you from our premises if you, in our judgment, breach any of these conditions.
  8. This agreement is subject to the laws of England and Wales and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  • It is a condition of entry that all entrants agree to be bound by these rules.
  • This Prize Draw is governed by the laws of English and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
  • The promoter of this prize draw is The British Museum Great Court Limited (company number 04098945) of Great Russell Street London WC1B 3DG.
