Frequently asked questions about Patron membership
How do I renew my Patron membership?
We will write to you in the three months
before your membership expires and send you a renewal form to fill
in. You can renew by sending a cheque or your credit card details
and once this has been processed you will receive your new
membership card.
What should I do if I lose or forget my membership card?
Please contact the Individual Giving Manager
on +44 (0)20 7323 8194 (Monday to Friday) or e-mail development@britishmuseum.org.
Please let us know as soon as possible and we can send you a
replacement card.
As a Patron, how do I find out about forthcoming Museum
exhibitions and events?
Every two months you will receive a What’s
on guide and to keep you up-to-date with Museum events and
exhibitions as well as three editions a year of the British Museum
Magazine. We also send you a Patrons’ calendar every three months
with the highlights of what’s on at the Museum for Patrons. If your
address changes, please email us at development@britishmuseum.org
.
Is my subscription tax-effective?
Yes. Your membership is eligible for Gift Aid.
This allows the British Museum, with your consent, to claim basic
rate tax relief, increasing the value of your contribution without
costing you anything. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can
claim higher rate tax relief on your membership in your Self
Assessment tax return.
How many guests can I bring to events?
Patrons are invited to all events with their
nominated partner. For the Patrons' Open House you may bring up to
six guests.
