Accessibility
It is the policy of the British Museum to make reasonable
adjustments in order to make all web-based information, services
and learning resources on the Museum's website accessible to all
users regardless of disability. The Museum requires that all new
web content conforms to W3C/WAI's Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines 1.0, Conformance Level
"Double-A". Web content on legacy sites might not currently
conform to these standards, and part of any plan to update these
will bring them to a higher level of accessibility. Any third party
contracted to design a website hosted by the Museum will also be
required to comply with these guidelines.
We are aware that there are some areas of the site where have
not met these standards. In the cases where these are known to us,
we are committed to improving these over time. However, there may
be some areas where we are not aware that there is a barrier to
accessibility. We welcome enquiries, comments and suggestions
regarding the accessibility of our site. Please email the web team
at web@thebritishmuseum.ac.uk.
We will review this policy in the future to consider updating
our conformance to an advanced version of the W3C's Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines once available.
